Dr Khanna has a point, we then can have good number of skill centers..but the issue is even those which are on record or existence now, are they doing the delivery part well; perhaps no.
Cluster approach in appropriate technology, as more appropriate to the village/township, as per level of students/youngsters there, developing them as skilled man power, within the segment where the skill gap is there, should be the approach. After all they are not going to get big wages; then they would be more contended to work at that wages, in the locality to which they belong to.
The case of educated and employability skills are to be treated differently. The Institutes still don't have an organized , embedded skill orientation program, as per the need of the profession for which they study; what happens mostly is just before the companies come for Campus selection, few Guest Lectures on communication, Interview, GD etc are held; and that is it.
Some one from MTC can prepare an action plan based on varied comments received on the subject and also based on little research work and send the concept note across who is who in education, decision makers, including to NSDC, Minister for Labour, Minister for HRM, Niti Ayog, , PM ....

…. Are you saying that, "we must feel happy that we are in second place" in Skill Shortage !!
Unfortunately, we are sitting over a ticking time-bomb – a lethal combination of far too many young, unskilled and unemployable youth, with a growing population nurturing high aspirations, and limited new job creation to engage them gainfully ….. it is a recipe for impending 'social unrest' , if not taken care of in judicious manner …..

Dear MTCians,
As a Indian we must feel happy that we are in second place. When we compare to American we must feel great since we're in developing nation.
