As one of our esteemed MTC colleague shared his observation that our skilling programs/process were lopsided. If we have to build a Pyramid, we have to start from the base and then build upon it step by step. Likewise the grooming of people should start from school level. However with the constraint of a huge population and 28 states where the language and tradition are also diverse and different, the challenges are no doubt very high. English Grammar would help steady the learning program throughout would be best learnt during schooling in class - 3, where nouns, verbs,adverbs, adjectives are taught and how they are to be used in formation of a sentence. If that stage is missed out and student manages to get through schooling and then wants to pursue higher studies...he/she would find it very difficult. During my interaction with HR Executives/Manager's in the run up to Placement process, I have come across several examples of badly written mails... too many errors in a few lines of communication. Though Southern India takes pride in highest literacy, how good would it be if the communication is improper?
The inability of students to speak on a particular topic for even two minutes has left many students sidelined during selection process in corporate. An M.D. of a very big Real Estate Firm whom I met told me that they had Marketing team handpicked from elite institutions and their spoken english was very good but when communicating in writing... they were terrible. He was looking for a training program for his executives from elite institute to re-learn written communication and that was a process of starting from the bottom ( as Khanna Sir has mentioned ).
Maybe our Education system needs to incorporate more of practical application processes besides the theories.

India has the second greatest skill shortage in the world. India has population over 125 crore and USA has 31.89 crore (2014) . Skill shortage in absolute number is much much higher in India than that of USA, a state certainly not of happiness.
If India wants to make up good for this shortage , many many jobs are on the anvil and if shortage is reduced just imagine the addition to the the job creation and of course to the national wealth, provided.....
