Re: [MTC Global] What do you think is the future of business education?

Respected Prof. Bholanath Dutta sir,

.....you have raised a wonderful question with respect to faculty with industry experience.....business management subject is something different from other subjects such as sociology, history, botany and geology.....even in chemistry and medicine real and practical experience will play a vital role....

....In business management, as you have rightly observed, industry experience will play a vital role...I had seen some of the retired faculty who started business and ended in miserable failure.....this is also one of the reasons for several retired faculty who wants to play safe game while continuing in teaching alone, that is, even after retirement, lest they know that they will fail miserably if they start some industry or business establishment.... ....for a couple of years, I tried to join into some private business management colleges, but I could n't get the opportunity due to lack of  so-called teaching experience in business management......though, UGC  and AICTE are encouraging industry experienced faculty, yet, in practice, classical theoreticians who were at the helm of affairs are playing worst game in denigrating the people with industry and research experience....

..... unless, UGC and AICTE made it mandatory to have a minimum of 50% faculty with industry and research experience, nobody with industry experience will have an opportunity to enter into teaching field.......a balanced approach is the need of the hour......that is, theoreticians on the one hand and pragmatists on the other.....LET MTC GLOBAL take a lead in making it a reality through UGC and AICTE....

..... with regards..... dr vishnumurty narra, psu officer, hyderabad....

All B- Schools have to reinvent themselves by offering courses and effecting  academic delivery, in line with the job expectations of the students and
the requirements of the industry. If they do not do it quickly, low and middle rung B-Schools will face the challenge of survival and growth respectively.
Job profiles in the industry have been changing rapidly ,so are the skills needed.  Traditional silos of HR/Marketing/Finance are breaking .
Faculty members in the B Schools ( that do not have industry experience ) must step out and see  what is happening in the industry so that they can mold the students accordingly.

Q. What do you think is the future of business education — no silos? What is the role of Business Education in digital economy? Are the B-schools are ready for it?
