This is the real life example of autonomy!
We need to appreciate that virtual games cannot replace the play on ground.

Subject: Re: [MTC Global] Meet the world's first professor of playFrom what I observe among the new generation kids, they are happily engrossed in their tablets, laptops and mobile phones playing games...they become irritated when they are asked to study or have their food as they are almost in an exciting phase/stage in their game and the disturbance is irksome. Woefully, this is the bane of mobile revolution. I guess this could well be a global scenario and Paul Ramchandani might come up with something better as a solution to divert the mindset/attention of kids to useful learning through interactive play. Games for learning and learning through games have co-existed all through our growing up times when we had different sports/games for the season. It enabled you to be agile and flexible while building you into a strong sporting person. Win & Lose - a part of the game also enabled you to learn from the mistakes to hit the winning note. I think besides the Games in curriculum, Music too could play a very pivotal role in calming the nerves and enabling youngsters to focus better.Warm Regards,Stephen--Stephen NarayananFreelance Educational Consultant/Corporate Training facilitatorMob.:-9868386192On Sat, May 27, 2017 at 7:09 PM, virendra goel <goel.virendra@gmail.com> wrote:Are they talking of sports or dramatics or both?

Subject: [MTC Global] Meet the world's first professor of play
C
ambridge University has appointed the world's first ever professor of play, Paul Ramchandani. A researcher who has spent the last 15 years leading the child and adolescent mental health research unit at Imperial College London, Ramchandani will take up the new role in early 2018. The position is funded through a £4m grant supporting the Centre for Research on Play in Education, Development and Learning (Pedal) from the Lego Foundation, the charitable arm of the children's toy company.
As professor of play, Ramchandani will explore how play can support education, promote emotional wellbeing, and equip children with skills in problem-solving, team-work and self control through play-based teaching. These approaches will be underpinned by research into measuring playfulness and understanding the brain processes involved.
