Re: [MTC Global] Reality Check ~ World's top performing school system

Management and Faculty are like BCCI & Players...till the Board keeps the players in good comfort zone giving them pay and incentive, they will perform. Non performers would naturally be ejected out of the system. Many Institute's have started taking student feedback about the faculty for the annual appraisal. This was also a debated point in this forum where faculty were aghast that their fate is now in the hands of students.... however a good faculty who takes the students along to progressive levels of learning would not have to worry - that is the commitment which Mr.Kalpen has mentioned in red and bold letters. No management would want a good faculty to leave them - especially when they are popular with students and if management and faculty have a healthy relationship, the institute is bound to thrive and get recognition through collective and collaborative activities whether it is EDP or MDP or workshop either for students or teaching staff. The onus of creating a healthy work atmosphere lies with both management to large extent and also with faculties. I have come across cases where faculties form a cartel to put down a colleague for either personal or professional reasons...human mentality of politics at times gets the better of even the best teachers.
To be a better teacher, the teacher has to constantly upgrade himself....stay a step ahead of the students as the youths through social media and a whole world of world wide web are gaining knowledge much more than the libraries can provide. Management by giving additional work allocation/responsibilities tries to gauge how well equipped the faculty is to deal with pressure of multi-tasking... a challenge...which unfortunately is being viewed as burden... narrowing down the differences of opinion would go a long way in establishing relations which last long.

It again comes down to one word – Commitment

Haven't heard of any Pvt sector organisation that doesn't give extra responsibilities to its employees outside the main job function ! Maybe in Govt sector and unionized work-force, probably it is true ….

In this era of multi-tasking and multi-skilling, if a Teacher wants to remain confined to ONLY Teaching, he/she is likely to get pushed out of the opportunity-market sooner or later ….. A GM (equivalent of HoD/Prof) will execute myriad number of tasks to be in control and remain relevant to the organisation ….. well, choice is that of individual's J

Now a days teachers are kept busy in all admin and so-called-social activities other than teaching in class and labs.

No employee of an organization is engaged in any assignments for other than what is appointed...

Why teachers only......?

There should be different section for election duties.data collection.surveys.......etc

"The quality of one's educational system cannot exceed the quality of its teachers according to a 2007 study on the world' top performing school systems."

Now we know the answer. We knew it before as well. So , why the delay? What is holding us back? --
