Re: [MTC Global] What is the future of jobs?

My take is:

  1. The present jobs will disappear  in future as a natural course and will be replaced by new. jobs.
  2. ICT, IoT, automation and robots will reduce drastically the number of jobs in production sector giving more economic prosperity to the (reduced) work force and more leisure time.
  3. Service sector in such areas as tourism, hospitality, health and medical care, education, cultural, consultancy/ counseling, real estate, sock market/banking, individual/social insurance, entertainment,   etc., will flourish vigorously as the urge for  quality-life  of those in production sector (high earning with more leisure time) will multiply many folds.
  4. on the other hand, agriculture sector mainly food processing including water management. will gain higher importance and it will flourish too creating more jobs. This will bring back more money/wealth in circulation for service/ production sectors.
  5. Nations will go for Swadeshi reducing import and increasing export so as to maintain nation's wealth-health in tact.

Dear All,
Today's generation is looking beyond the traditional choices favored by their parents, and opting for newer alternatives made possible in the digital age.

  • Determining the direction and specialization of our postgraduate studies is possibly one of the earliest 'big' decisions we make in our lives. The choice of both the subject and the institution plays a huge role here, with the former determining our future line of work and the latter, our employment prospects.

New areas like analytics, user experience, and data sciences are driving employment opportunities across fields, leading to a demand for newer skills and domain expertise.
  • Predictive Business Analytics: As per the Harvard Business Review, business analytics is emerging as the 'hottest' job of the century.
  • Digital Marketing: With digital marketing spends forecasted to grow by more than 25% in 2017 and nearly 87% of brands in India leveraging the digital medium, digital marketing has grown to become one of the most important new vocations in recent times.
  • Logistics and Supply Chain management: As per the National Skill Development Corporation, the Indian logistics and supply chain management market shows that the number of people required in this sector is expected to reach 28.40 million by 2022, i.e. 15 lakhs new jobs every year.
  • Advanced Business Intelligence and Big Data: Business Intelligence (BI) plays a critical role in assimilating, summarizing, and presenting an organization's data in hand. According to NASSCOM, the Indian analytics market is to grow at nearly 26% in the next decade.

The future of jobs would lie in treating information as a commodity, learning to retrieve required information from the Web and disseminating the information in a time-bound manner.
