Re: [MTC Global] Fortifying Interest in a Distracted World

My take is:

  1. Mere interest without focus attention leads  no student to success.
  2. Interest may be real, natural as a personal gift or virtual. Focus attention on such gifted interest pays high dividend.
  3. In the information age there is more probability that one develops virtual interest because of three reasons: (1) unable to subtract  more and more information from the available(2) mind is not trained what to  unlearn, relearn or learn (3) mind easily embraces distraction.
  4. To optimize attraction and distraction, attention is required of both within(internal) and from outside (external).
  5. (self) interest has no significant role to play if one's focused attention, in the so called information age,  is based on information subtraction, unlearning, relearning and learning.
  6. Hence strategies could be (a) encourage  students to identify natural/in-built/inherent interest and focus attention on them. (b) encourage students through such techniques as information subtraction, leaning, relearning and unlearning to  identify the area(s) that deserve focused attention may be of interest or no interest and go ahead.

Subject: [MTC Global] Fortifying Interest in a Distracted World
Interest and focused attention are essential to successful student outcomes.  It follows that the process of capturing and sustaining our students' interest deserves regular attention.

These days new ideas and advances are occurring quickly, there are games, social media and news bulletins to distract us. What strategies help students stay engaged in today's learning environments?
