SCNC North America _________________________________________________________________________ For Immediate Release July 2nd 2012 OBITUARY: ANNOUNCING THE DEATH OF BARRISTER PETER B. NYOH BY THE CHAIRMAN OF SCNC NORTH AMERICA It is with enormous grief that I am announcing officially the death of Barrister Peter Baba Nyoh, the Legal Counsel of SCNC North America on June 28, 2012. We are blessed to be a part of a struggle that has been shaped by the will, the wise counsel, and the vision of Peter Nyoh. With an unshakable faith in the values of a budding nation and the character of our people, Peter Nyoh renewed Southern Cameroons' confidence and restored democratic principles in the often juddered SCNC political landscape in the US. The modest, meek and unassuming legal juggernaut was at the service of the Southern Cameroonians in the US, deploying his services with rare finesse and scruples, more often than not, on a purely pro bono basis. His optimism, strength, and humility epitomized the Southern Cameroonian spirit. He always told us that for Southern Cameroons, the best was yet to come and liberation was only a matter of time. Peter Nyoh believed that God takes the side of justice and that Southern Cameroons has a special calling to oppose tyranny of the regime of the Republic of Cameroon. Through his courage, resilience, assiduity and determination, he defended the cause of liberation with resolute will and clenched teeth. Peter Nyoh has left us, but he has left us stronger and better. We take comfort in the knowledge that he has left us for a better place, the shining city that awaits him. Peter will be greatly missed. He leaves behind an aggrieved wife and a daughter to mourn him. We call on Southern Cameroonians to assemble in their respective places of worship and pay homage to the memory of Peter Nyoh. We invite those who share our grief to join us in venerating and immortalizing the name of a true Southern Cameroonian patriot. While we await funeral arrangements from the family, we pray them to accept our sincere condolences. JUDE A. OZUGHEN Chairman SCNC North America |
