Position:   Senior Data Architect Consultant
Location: Greater Boston, MA
Duration: 6+ month contract  
Rate: Open . All inclusive


Summary:

Serves as the lead technical resource in the strategic oversight and planning of data models and database structural design and development. Oversees the design, evaluation, selection, implementation and support of major databases and metadata structures. Develops data and metadata processes and procedures for structural design and development to build, maintain and leverage the data model.

Required Skills:

10+ Years Experience with Proven expertise with Data Management, Data Warehousing, and Analytics, including extensive implementation experiences

  • Deep experience with conceptual, logical and physical data modeling for large databases
  • Knowledge of industry accepted design techniques including Star and Snowflake schemas.
  • Proven ability to design scalable solutions using traditional and agile methods.
  • Database development experience in one or more market-leading database systems.
  • Produces dimensional models, develops source-to-target mapping and data transformation logic, documents standard calculations, and communicates these requirements to the design and build teams
  • Strong knowledge of leading concepts in Data Quality, Master Data Management, Data Governance and Data Stewardship
  • Strong SQL skills
    Strong in data architecture (Data Warehousing, ODS, Data Marts, Staging)
  • Experience in a (or multiple) CASE tools (ERwin, ORACLE Designer 2000, ER/Studio, etc.).
  • Expertise in two (or more) integration tools (DTS, SSIS, Informatica, Data Stage, etc.)
  • Experience in a (or multiple) OLAP tools (Analysis Services, Cognos, Business Objects, etc.)
  • Experience in a (or multiple) Reporting tools (Reporting Services, Business Objects, ProClarity, etc.)
  • Ability to develop and lead in Business Intelligence Roadmaps
  • Mentor Architects, technical team leads and Software Engineers in BI-related architectural issues and best practices.
  • Experience in providing technical leadership to project team members and BI consumers.
    Thorough knowledge of design and integration principles for complex, heterogeneous databases
  • Ability to effectively diagnose, isolate, and resolve complex problems pertaining to data infrastructure
  • Ability to evaluate and make recommendations regarding data integrity
  • Ability to project database resource requirements including personnel, software, equipment and facilities. Ability to maintain currency on tools, methodologies, and technologies
  • Ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical management and resources staff
  • Ability to lead, influence and motivate others
  • Strong consultative and presentation skills
  • Possesses excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Education/Experience:

Bachelors and/or Master's Degree

5+ years in a data architect role with increasing responsibilities and projects.

Consulting experience preferred

Microsoft and/or Business Objects product stack knowledge desirable.
