Re: [cameroon_politics] Re: ACHEBE'S DEMISE: WHAT A DAY FOR AFRICA'S LITTERATI!

Below is the message we received from our ACF Executive. Unless Chinue Achebe died immediately after his brother.

We received an unwelcome news that one of our elder members, Pa Phillip Achebe, of Atlanta chapter, went to be with the Lord on Saturday March 9, 2013 after a period of illness. He was 83 years old; survived by his wife and children. His daughter is Sis. Chika Onyema, the women's coordinator and son in- law is Bro. Washington Onyema, the Atlanta chapter president.

Pa Achebe was in the New Orleans chapter before moving with his family to
Atlanta. He was a brother to Chinua Achebe, the author of the novel, Things Fall Apart. He was known to several as the Soccer champ administrator of yester-years. Pa Achebe was a great encourager to the body of Christ. While we are thankful for a life well lived, we also are saddened by his death. Our prayers are with the family as they make preparations for the funeral and celebration of life. Below are the contacts for the family.

Dr. Njang,

You mean the publishers (Penguin Books) were wrong in announcing that the Achebe who is dead is actually their author of "Things Fall Apart"? You mean the President of Nigeria and Nelson Mandela were misled into acknowledging the passing away of the author of "Things Fall Apart"? Hope you are right; though no one wishes his brother dead.

Dear Dr. Vakuta,

The Achebe who died is not the author of "Things Fall Apart". It is his brother. Please, take note.
