Ron, I never thought about a mouthguard when i am in the middle, but not a bad idea. I have received a few balls to the face and other delicate areas in my career. Wear the wrap around sports glasses when i am center official, saves on facial cuts and replacing glasses. After dealing with pro and college athletes, many who sustained dental injuries in their younger days it never ceases to amaze me that we cant get mouth guards mandated in soccer, baseball, and softball. Because kids aren't going to wear them, and most parents aren't going to buy them if they aren't forced to. Think i will hit the literature and get even more vocal.

with the center ref on the receiving end...I'm sure you've seen many more. What say you....so much over the years that I've also come to believe that the center official should where one as well. I've seen some nasty facialsto wear a mouthguard because in Texas it's not "mandated". (I do think that things are slowly changing). I've thought about thisPat....I thought you did an outstanding, comfortable job which showed a great personality...with humility. As a Dad who has a son who played soccer at the elite level all over the country, and in college......I never could get him

Sent from my iPadHey guys,--I was on the local Clear Channel morning show this morning talkingabout preventing sports dental injuries and other topics the host drifted into, ifyou have 6 or so minutes of your life you don't mind wasting, knowing you will neverget them back, give it a listen. Might give you an idea to talk about around yourtown. Thank God I have a face for radio.Pat C
