Position: Deployment Project Manager
Location: San Jose, CA
Duration: 6 months

Deployment Project Manager - Job Description:
The Client is working on an Office 365 cloud-based solution and implementing a common directory across the County. Over 5,000 mailboxes have already been migrated to the Cloud, yet several large departments have yet to be migrated. We are looking for a project manager to lead two efforts:
1) Manage the email migration of another 5,000 mailboxes Office 365
2) Roll out Office 365 new functions to the departments already migrated, e.g. Lync, One-drive 
For the mail migration, a roll-out strategy has already been developed. Still, to minimize migration issues requires extensive planning and coordination with department and team resources. 
The Deployment Project Manager will be requested to:
Work with the Customer and IS Technical teams to design a detailed schedule
Work with IT management to define needed IS resources to meet deadlines
Work with IS SME's to mitigate technical email transition issues (i.e. 25mb email limit, Email archive)
Coordinate all communications customers, Client O365 team, and management
Perform post installation customer satisfaction follow up
For the rollout of new functions, MS technical team is requesting a Project manager to:
Develop roll out strategy and plan
Work with the Customer and IS Technical teams to roll out the functions
Coordinate supporting efforts, including policy development, training and promotion and adoption activities 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 10 years relevant working experience, including a minimum of 10 years in technology and 5 years leading or managing projects;
PMI's PMP Certification, preferred;
Solid project management and leadership skills and experience in delivering projects on time, within budget, and with high customer satisfaction;
Experience managing within the PMI methods and applying standard methodologies to achieve project results;
Expertise and proven ability in risk management and mitigation;
BS/BA degree, or equivalent work experience; public sector experience desirable 

TECHNICAL SKILLS
The candidate will need hands-on experience in the following technologies:
Mail Migrations 15K+: Exchange, Public Folders, Group Calendars, Delegates,
Other MS Platforms: MS Lync Communications, SharePoint Administration & Implementation,
Optional - Base Servers: Windows Server Hardware Architecture, Multiple SAN types, PowerShell Scripting & Problem management, Troubleshooting, & Cleanup. 

RESPONSIBILITIES
Providing information around environmental prerequisites for migration to the cloud and to O365 specifically.
Hands on experience managing implementation of a product rollout for multi-agency/division/department, working with stakeholders, users and vendors, with multiple facets (e.g. Department deployment and migration planning including hardware, software, Software as a Service, testing, training, communication, work team meetings).
Plan, Consult, Manage and Monitor all project related activities to meet aggressive schedule and keep the project within budget.
Work with Client and external vendors on the project to establish realistic timelines and drive execution to completion.
Gather, analyze and create rollout plans based on stakeholder's readiness and availability.
Manage stakeholder expectations and align project team to ensure synergy and understanding across the board.
Plan and schedule all activities for an effective and efficient product implementation, keeping external vendor costs at a minimum and ensuring success.
Identify departmental training needs and work with the training team to establish training schedule.
Work closely with Communication specialist to ensure communication planning and schedules are met.
Plan, manage and facilitate meetings to develop a rollout schedule and plan collaboratively with the stakeholders.
Plan and manage the atmosphere in which the team works by promoting good communication, insulating the team from having to deal with politics (both internal and external to the project), and enhancing positive aspects of culture differences and resolving team issues.
Identifies, analyzes, documents project risks, constraints and assumptions and develop strategies for contingencies/mitigation
Establish, educate and advocate a robust change management strategy keeping stakeholder and sponsor's interests in mind.
Recommend improvements to existing processes and establish new processes to streamline effective communication, planning, management, monitoring and implementation of the project.
Work closely with PMO office to implement approved governance practices, and promote quality standards.
The candidate is expected to raise any risks to project schedule, budget and stakeholder satisfaction to the Program Manager to address before schedule or costs are impacted.
Understand collective bargaining environment (unions/labor relations etc.) and work closely with Client's assigned Program Manager to ensure project success.
Work with Program Manager to document status updates and report on project progress to the Executive Governance Committee. Able to clearly articulate and present project status to the Client staff, unions and the Board of Supervisor if requested.
Proven leadership skills in managing resources, stakeholders and the dynamic nature of IT projects, focused on achieving agreed milestones and keeping the project on schedule and under budget at all times.
