[MTC Global] Salary variations of faculties not justified for quality education, uniformity: AIU

The Central Zone Vice Chancellors of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) have demanded that the salary variations of faculties are not justified for quality education and uniformity should be restored. They have also demanded that vacant teaching posts should be filled up immediately.

The demand was put forth during the meeting of VC’s of the zone at Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences. Prof. Deepak Kumar Behra, VC Behram University, Orrisa said that course curriculum should be integrated with industries and according to overseas demand in order to attract foreign students in India. He also suggested that Indian universities should fix parameters for quality assurance of higher education.

Prof. Furqan Qamar, AIU General Secretary and VC said that the potential of Indian higher education is three millions foreign students but presently only 23 thousands are enrolled in Indian universities therefore, we are tapping only 10% of our potential. Prof. Furqan advocated ‘Make in India’ concept of Prime Minister of India should be implemented providing opportunities of international exposure to our students and staffs at service level.

RECOMMENDATIONS & SUGGESTIONS

1) Salary variations of faculties is not justified for quality education and uniformity should be restored.

2) Vacant teaching posts should be filled up immediately.

3) There must be a fast track fund generating system at government level for quality research and innovations

4) In Ph.D. programmes, entry should be simple and exist should be rigorous .

5) There should be skill development programme for graduate students in all universities.

6) Training should be provided at universities level for capacity building of faculty.

7) Rules should be devised for all tribal people with virtual zone facilitations in which the region of tribal people shall be identified for implementing higher education programme.

8) In higher education a Hybrid model of curriculum should be developed with 60% regular mode and 40% through distance education mode.
