Well , this comparison may be well intended but not valid. 'Guru' and 'Google' cannot be compared and same way 'Information' and 'Wisdom' . Adding to the list, "Content' and "Context' cannot be compared too. Google gives you content , but only Guru can give you meaning of that content, and teach you to how to apply that in right context. Both are complimentary , you need wisdom to understand an information, and apply it in right direction . Same way , you need context to understand a content .

What is your perception and Notion exactly acceptable but some time it pushes further to think beyond for comparison and analysis.
Sent from my iPadProfessor Sahib,Learning from teacher or "guru" is different from mere dissemination of information by tech driven search engines or sites.Lord Krishna delivered Sri Mad Bhagwat to Arjuna and elevated here spirit to differentiate between "dharma" and "adharma". Can a person seeking information on these search engines and sites be elevated to act in right direction? Not, not at all. Human voice has a invisible impact on the listener and the listener is mesmerized. This is not possible in dead information. Hence technology cannot replace teachers. With best regards,Prof P.K.Keshap--On Sun, Feb 1, 2015 at 7:44 PM, 'Ancheri Sreekumar' via Management Teachers Consortium, Global <join_mtc@googlegroups.com> wrote:If Gurus can provide online their processed knowledge on various topics, then shishyas need be only online.
Extending the argument further, anybody including shishyas can also do the same thing.
That provides enough Gurus for shishyas to choose from including traditional shishyas who can also be Gurus.
I, as a shishya, learn a lot now-a-days from many UG and Graduate theses available in many University sites. With Warm Regards,

Dictating notes from text books which are available online is nothing but sharing information. In fact, even the notes are now available online at various student forums. In that context, who is a Guru? The respected VC is absolutely correct in stating that only Gurus can provide proper direction and enable the students to gain knowledge by internalizing and understanding the information they receive from various sources. The ground reality is whether we have Gurus in our education system and if yes, are they the exception or the rule?It would be in the better interests of our educational system and our nation is we accepted the short coming of our system and the fact that there are very few of even no Gurus around. It would help us change for the better instead of hiding behind the Guru tag.ByeVRRetail Consultant, Trainer & Author,On Wed, Jan 28, 2015 at 1:38 PM, <join_mtc@googlegroups.com> wrote:

The University Grants Commission (UGC) Vice-Chairman H. Devaraj has
underlined the need for imparting quality education to students.
Delivering the convocation address at the 8th annual convocation of Tumkur
University Devaraj said that Google cannot replace teachers and only
'gurus' can give good direction to students.
Instead of depending on information available on Google and the internet,
students should attend classes regularly to enhance knowledge, Devraj said.
Lauding the rich culture and heritage of the country, he called upon the
younger generation to emulate the values and ideals of Indian culture. As
many as 100 'Kaushala Kendras' (skill development centres) would be
established across the country to help students, he said, reported Hindu.

Technology (including Google) can put people into a self-learning mode in which the Guru and Shishya become one and the same.
