Re: Thanks Mr Ekinneh Agbaw ------Re: [cameroon_politics] Re: [camnetwork] Why Mishe Fon should forward my request to the Mankon Group and collect the information I need from them

I do not know why this got my attention.  I see a psychological problem that prevails throughout the community of people who have been oppressed and suppressed over decades.  They developed a what I term as the power to overcome/compensate for what the laws failed to do.

How do you in your intellectual analysis teach some of us who come in contact with so many people born in polygamous homes or who were born out of wed log...three to five wives and it never stops so many concubines with so many children.  The psychotherapy lesson is paving your way out of the tragedy of so many people who cannot  think clearly, nor appreciate the timeliness getting out of the rut.

If you mean well, restructrure Cameroon beginning with changing the corrupt elements of the Cameroon Embassy in Washington, DC.  I do not understand the tragedy of Cameroonians not being served with dignity, timeliness and integrity and that weighs on the why the best intellectuals even from the most reputable schools of the American environment end up like step children no matter who we were since Cameroon. I do not try to disguise how some of us since the early beginnings of bilingualism in Cameroon since `1963, I am grateful to God Almighty that I am still around to be part of your efforts.

I am sure the World does not believe the integrity of the approach of one of the founding students of the initial bilingual Grammar School in Man O' War Bar.  The World shall seek God's presence in the rest of his understandings.  If It is God's will, why will Fomukong, le Bilingue depuis les USA not help Cameroon move into a new tract de se qu'on appelle, le nouveau Cameroun...super inter-etatique avec Dr. Fomukong,  Emmanuel, Folio, Le Cameroun en avent.

Thank you Mr Ekinneh . I love your energy and passion for knowledge and application . I will like your insights on Project Management but I am focused on SWOT analysis.

How can a public intellectual request a private email, hahahahahaa. Never mind , just kidding*:)) laughing*:)) laughing I am enjoying the conversation. We have to examine the SWOT analysis of all the Cities in  Cameroon and  Bamenda is just a start.
 .
What are the Strengths, Weaknesses , Opportunities and Threats of  Bamenda under the four subjects below  . This was my initial email. I did not send out anything confusing. Perhaps you miss it. So, let us go back to the drawing board.

See the issues below .  There are four subjects below. If you have first hand information or access to any information that might help me, then I will appreciate.

In short, a SWOT is an analysis of an area's Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. It may be helpful when looking for your S, W, O, and T to contact someone living in the area you are researching. They can provide a firsthand perspective that your other research may not provide. This portion of the assignment will take preplanning. People usually are willing to share strengths or weaknesses, but they may not be able to share both based on their personal biases, experiences, and situation in life. Make sure your SWOT is balanced, and include all information that you have received.

Ta-Mfar Mishe "Fongang",
I don't quite understand what the bone of contention is besides the fact that the request made by Mr Awasom is a bit confusing to me; even as a theoretical matter. I have been wrestling with the request Mr. Awasom made, seeking information on remittances to Bamenda by the Diaspora in the USA.

Even before we get into the nitty-gritty of policy/project analysis, the first question that comes to mind is: what is the research topic and how will that information enhance the premise of the research or the empiricality of the outcome?

If for example, Mishe Fon sent money to Bamenda for the construction of a two-storey building and rents out the down floor to a businessman who pays rents to Mishe Fon's family living upstairs; how would you classify that in the research? Would it be an income-generating "investment" even though the income so generated goes to finance the upkeep of Mishe Fon's family, so they should stop calling him in America to ask even for money to buy maggi, salt and pepper?

What if someone sent money to one of these numerous cousins, whose father might have given you 500 frs to buy garri and sugar while you were in school. He uses the money to pay to "learn work" in a garage and empowers himself; becoming a mechanic and marries two wives and now has 10 children; who look up to their uncle in America for their survival. Would you consider that an investment? Or just "plain bahlock"?

There seems to be a problem with the problematique of Mr. Awasom's request because my understanding of a SWOT analysis is that, by itself, it is not normative. It is used to test the strength and weaknesses of a hypothesis, after certain parameters are held constant. You can then do a regression analysis before making any valid inferences as to the conclusion from the available data.

In project management, if for example, you decided to embark on a project to donate a health center in Mankon; you begin with a CBA -Cost Benefit Analysis and factor in the variables in a linear equation where CBA =I(1)+O(1)>O(2)+I(2); where I(1) is the Input and O(1) is the Output and O(2) is the Outcome and I(2) is the Impact of the project.

A SWOT analysis of such a project will address issues like the ability to provide quality healthcare (strength); the challenges of maintenance and retaining competent staff and other challenges such as service supply relative to demand (weaknesses); capacity to scale-up with other healthcare providers in Bamenda (opportunities) a hostile bureaucratic operational environment/discriminatory gov't regulation against private health centers/image and reputation damage etc are (threats) that could undermine the project. The threats are not necessarily existential.

In any case, the amount of remittances and the purpose for which the funds were wired to Cameroon will at best be a dependent variable in the equation given that once the people in Cameroon receive the money from Western Union or MoneyGram, the first thing they do, is NOT what the sender requested; rather, they look for the closest bar to "cut one man first" and "bless the money". How would you factor this in?

Mr. Awasom, I don't know what topic you are working on, but send me a private e-mail and I can be of some help. Don't get scared; it will be on a pro bono basis!

Pah Awasom
You wrote: "I cannot cite them unless they provide me with the financial statement showing how money they have remitted to Bamenda. That is the duty of Mishe Fon and it is his responsibility to assist me . I cannot spend the rest of my life begging for what belongs to me. That is injustice".

I would not be wrong in assuming that the general consensus is that every one is happy with the major decision you took to go back to school and acquire knowledge. You are a good and very honest human being BUT you should know how to ask for a favor. No be by force. Take am easy. Like Massa Agbor rightly observed, send private emails to individuals you think are resourceful enough to volunteer the information you need for your research paper. Most people who read these emails are very nice individuals and would go the extra mile to assist you in your work. desist from confrontational posturing, unnecessary accusations and blame game.

Unfortunately, I hold absolutely no  position of responsibility in Mankon or MACUDA USA. There are many Bamendrous Cultural groups with very vibrant and active websites. Check out very solid associations like Bali (Nyonga and Khumbat), Aghem(Wum), Wimbum(Nkambe), Bui(Nso), Ndong Awing, Northwest Fon's Council, Camroyals, Batibo, Babessi, Akum, Santa Njong, Ngie Ngwo, Njibujang(Bafut) and many more. Other PAWA houses include Alumni groups like LESA (the two sides), SHESA, BOBANS even St. Ngong 4 Banso, St. Bedes 4 Kom, PCC Pah Mubang, LCC 4 Pah Longlass, KTC and even ex-students of that Typing School near  Roxi cinema.
Pick up your phone and call the Executive Director of the ACCDF who has the current list of all Cultural and Alumni Associations with names of current Officials. I am 100% sure they will work with you on whatever project you are working on.

Most of these groups undertake various projects in Cameroon in fields such as Health Care (Medical Missions), Sanitation, Transportation (SAFRAN), Water and Electricity supplies, Micro-Finance, Credit Unions, Housing, Road Maintenance, Agriculture, Education (Scholarship awards, Schools Construction and supplies, Pro-bono University exchange Professors etc). If you don't ask, you will never be informed. Cameroonians are doing a lot for their country although they have never understood the rationale behind their government's reticence in accepting Dual Nationality.

I wish you all the best in your career path.

Tah Mfar Mishe Fon

Mr Agbor

You see when I was not subscribed to all these groups, people forwarded stuff there about or against me.
So,  those individuals should be kind enough to forward my request for research, too.
Has Greg Baitey forwarded my request to MINCAM that has a large Bamenda population?
Has Mishe Fon forwarded my request to Mankon Forum as he used to do ?
Mankon is in Bamenda and all Mankon organizations and groups here send money to Bamenda.

BUT WHY AM I NOT SUSCRIBED TO MANKON FORUMS? DO YOU BLAME FOR THAT ?

Mr Agbor let us face facts. They unsubscribed me from groups that I am supposed to belong!
So, how am I supposed to contact them when I don't have their information?  Even I contact them it will take forever before I get a call back.

I was not even supposed to be asking for information from Mankon group if I was first of all allowed to have access to their financial statements as a mankon man .
You see, we cannot  alter the way society is supposed to function because the moment we start acting as if we have to over  belabor research, then we are failing

In my  other research, I email the Pastor of the Church I  attend and other people. He simply referred me to another entity who has first hand information.
I met him and conducted my research perfectly well with no problem.

I cannot conduct a research on a US city without including a Cameroon city . So, we should be prepared because in the course  of my research I will require maximum cooperation from groups, organization and individuals that I may consider useful for my research. For instance I am citing the Cameroon Professional Society in my research but I don't need to contact again because they have a credible website that can be cited with at least facts about their activities. But Mankon group's website is shallow and lack information on a lot of things. So, I cannot cite them unless they provide me with the financial statement showing how money they have remitted to Bamenda. That is the duty of Mishe Fon and it is his responsibility to assist me . I cannot spend the rest of my life begging for what belongs to me. That is injustice.

Public policy is all about research and writing . That is why I post some of my findings because it is not about me. It is for the public good and it will make no sense  if I research Pakistan and the fail to write on Cameroon . This is what I mean by contextual analysis. My Professor know this about me because I would be misleading myself if I fail to factor Cameroon into the process.

When I am done with this SWOT Analysis on Bamenda, I will also post to everyone. I have nothing to hide and no harm intended except to gather the facts and state with my critique, response and recommendations.

I hope  this is helpful

Jonathan Awasom
