We do  not have a robust national wage policy!

Do you think that the 6th Pay Commission or earlier ones are justifiable wage policies in India?

Are the pay scales really linked with performance? For instance quantification of APIs and PBAS in case of faculties prescribed by UGC. Is there such a linking in case of other jobs?

Have we defined scientifically job-description for all posts?

Are we sure that irrespective of sector, jobs with equal job difficulty points are paid equally?

Performance linked concepts has such aspects as:

  1. How the performance target is fixed? Whether the process is effectively/productively designed/ standardized?  Is not this target subjected to variation over a period of time?
  2. The employee is paid as per his performance. Are we allowing low-performing employees to survive?
  3. Can this concept be exploited to squeeze the employees?
  4. Cannot it be a strategy to deprive our competitors from getting good employees? 
All this needs transparency so that a healthy competition in labour market can be initiated.

Undercurrent - a US based consultancy firm and Buffer-a social media management tool company making the news by encouraging the employees to make their salary public [ish].

IS there anything wrong ? If the company is professional and salary is linked with the performance.

Do you agree that such transparency is good for the health of the organisation [or individual] ?
