Extension Associate, Foods and Nutrition

This position is in the Department of Youth, Family, and Community Sciences at NC State

University. The Department of Youth, Family, and Community Sciences integrates the functions

of research, teaching, and extension to advance effective and impactful learning, discovery,

translation, application and engagement. Improving the lives of children, youth, families and

communities. It's what we do.

Responsibilities

This position provides programmatic expertise for the intersection of food, nutrition, and

health, with an emphasis on consumer food preparation.

The successful candidate will:

Assess the training and programmatic needs of Cooperative Extension agents as it

pertains to food and nutrition educational programs.

Translate technical and scientific information for use by various audiences.

Train Cooperative Extension agents and other professionals in nutrition concepts, food

preparation, and program delivery.

Develop community educational programs in the area of food and nutrition.

Develop and test new delivery strategies that use technology to reach a broader audience with

research-based information.

Develop partnerships inside and outside of NC State University.
