Re: [MTC Global] Assisting Students who miss class

Dear Colleagues,

I decide it on the basis of type of student or student group. We come across categories:

1. Interested in learning and were absent for genuine reasons
2. Not interested in learning and were absent for non-genuine reason
3. Interested in learning but do not bother about what has been missed during absence (they prefer google over Faculty!)

Summarizing what has been covered in earlier class is very commonly used. We may ask for consultation, assignments, self-study etc. It also depends on course and difficulty/interest of the students in a particular course. What matters more is 'Motivation to learn'.

Kind Regards,

Yes ,

It is very important and relevant question also.

In my case it depends on how many classes the student missed.

Mostly, it will be one class, since in a subject my class will will comes once in three days.

Therefore whatever content is missed , it will be briefed in the next class " RECAP" , which will give some idea to the student and can read from the text book for more information.

But If it is for a longer period, I will ask the student
1) first consult with the colleagues and understand ,
2) next read the textbook and understand
3) come prepared only for clarifications and not for a detailed lecture

What do you do to assist students who miss your class for legitimate reasons such as participation in athletics, attend a conference, or travel home for a family emergency? Are they left like that or some remedial measures (productive) are taken .
