Higher Education Sector indeed needs to take the wake-up call and come-out of "Business-as-Usual" attitude.

• IT sector has matured well during last fifteen years to overcome recessionary forces if any. Whole world is in a digital make-over mode for functional efficiency and as such high-end IT services will be in great demand as usual. 
  
• Lay offs due to automation, particularly after the annual review period, is anticipated by the affected employees, who are normally ready with back-up plans including up-skilling or re-skilling to pursue their true career interests. Severance package would be handy during the re-establishment period. Active alumni network can be greatly helpful for referrals. and linkages during such rough patch.
• Recession or slack in demand due to change in out-sourcing policies of client countries is treated as an opportunity by the IT sector to fine-tune their corporate strategy and product / services portfolio. Good performers will be regrouped internally to re-enforce weak spots.
