I would say it is a step in the right direction, considering that the party in power is of BJP who are over passionate about imposing Hindi/Sanskrit and whatever the diktats of RSS.  Trivendra Singh Rawat overthrew Harish Rawat of Congress in the recently concluded elections in March. Dehradun Hill town is a Hub of Education with many Christian Schools dotted all over the Hills. I have often visited schools there a couple of years back and Dalanwala, Premnagar, Haathi-barkala, Landsdowne are areas where lot of International Schools with boarding facilities are situated. When you have 5-6 English medium schools in a row and you open up a Hindi medium school inbetween it would give rise to inferiority complex in the kids. The decision taken by the administrators and the government of the state stems from realistic assessment.
