Re: [MTC Global] At Cross Road - Student's performance

I am also in quest of an answer for these questions. Here in many institutes we see that some teachers teaching Mathematics, Accountancy and Finance have lomg sessions and give heavy assignments for the students and teach them like private tuition centre classes. I dont if this is necessary and many students feel that they had lost their passion towards those subjects which have been taught in this manner. Just wanted to get an answer for the same.

Fw: [NaijaPolitics] NIGERIA IS NOT AN ISLAMIC COUNTRY BY VIRTUE OF THE CONSTITUTION - Dr. Nwaezeigwe

A new front is being opened in the ongoing battle to rein in the perceived many excesses and lawlessness embodied in routine the governance of Nigeria since the imposition of unification and unitary government fifty years ago. The 1st Republic's 5 constitutions were abrogated and the 4 semi-autonomous regions arbitrarily divvied up into 36 states and a Federal Capital Territory that depend on monthly handouts from Abuja in order to survive. Because political power resided with Northern Nigeria, which boasts of a Muslim majority, gradual but consistent steps have been taken by the country's unitary government to Islamize the country through administrative fiat.

Dr. Nwnakwo Tony Nwaezeigwe, a historical researcher and writer, is the Director of Igbo Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He has teamed up with the Nigeria Civil War and Genocide Research Network to bring a landmark lawsuit against the Government of Nigeria with the goal of arresting and reversing the Islamization of the country by the unitary central government in Abuja. Many have talked around the subject of Islamization of Nigeria which went into high gear during the decades of autocratic military dictatorship that preceded the 4th Republic. But this is possibly the first time that a concerted effort is being made to use the judicial system to restrain the central government from blatant violation of the constitution which declares that Nigeria shall not have an official religion. A mega legal drama is poised to unfurl before all - for both Nigerian and and international audiences alike............

The battle line has been drawn in Asaba, the capital city of Delta state and it passes through the Federal High Court of Nigeria in the Asaba Judicial Division. On one side of the battle line are the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Attorney General of the Federation, the President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Speaker, House of Representatives of Federal Republic of Nigeria and the National Assembly as defendants. [MTC Global] Nice article by Kushwant Singh

Dear friends,

Good morning.

Nice article.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nice article by Late Khushwant Singh.

How To Live and Die

Love Ever Groups...!!!!!

I've often thought about what it is that makes people happy—what one has to do in order to achieve happiness.

1- First and foremost is good health. If you do not enjoy good health, you can never be happy. Any ailment, however trivial, will deduct something from your happiness.

2- Second, a healthy bank balance. It need not run into crores, but it should be enough to provide for comforts, and there should be something to spare for recreation—eating out, going to the movies, travel and holidays in the hills or by the sea. Shortage of money can be demoralising. Living on credit or borrowing is demeaning and lowers one in one's own eyes.

3- Third, your own home. Rented places can never give you the comfort or security of a home that is yours for keeps. If it has garden space, all the better. Plant your own trees and flowers, see them grow and blossom, and cultivate a sense of kinship with them.

4- Fourth, an understanding companion, be it your spouse or a friend. If you have too many misunderstandings, it robs you of your peace of mind. It is better to be divorced than to be quarrelling all the time.

5- Fifth, stop envying those who have done better than you in life—risen higher, made more money, or earned more fame. Envy can be corroding; avoid comparing yourself with others.

6- Sixth, do not allow people to descend on you for gossip. By the time you get rid of them, you will feel exhausted and poisoned by their gossip-mongering.

7- Seventh, cultivate a hobby or two that will fulfill you—gardening, reading, writing, painting, playing or listening to music. Going to clubs or parties to get free drinks, or to meet celebrities, is a criminal waste of time. It's important to concentrate on something that keeps you occupied meaningfully.

8- Eighth, every morning and evening devote 15 minutes to introspection. In the mornings, 10 minutes should be spent in keeping the mind absolutely still, and five listing the things you have to do that day. In the evenings, five minutes should be set aside to keep the mind still and 10 to go over the tasks you had intended to do.

9- Ninth, don't lose your temper. Try not to be short-tempered, or vengeful. Even when a friend has been rude, just move on.

10- Above all, when the time comes to go, one should go like a Person without any regret or grievance against anyone.

[MTC Global] sweet memories

Those who grew up during the 70-90s in middle class India , here are some things that you can identify with……

1. Though you may not publicly own to this, at the age of 12-17 years, you were very proud of your first "Bellbottom" or your first "Maxi" .

2. Phantom & Mandrake were your only true heroes. The brainy ones read "Competition Success Review".

3. Your "Camlin" geometry box & Natraj/Flora pencil were your prized possessions.

4. The only "Holidays" you took were to go to your grandparents' or your cousins' houses.

5. Ice-cream meant only - either an orange stick, a vanilla stick – or a Choco Bar if you were better off than most.

6. You gave your neighbour's phone number to others with a 'PP' written against it because you had booked yours only 7 years ago and were still waiting for your number to come.

7. Your parents were proud owners of HMT watches. You "earned" yours after SSC exams.

8. You have been to "Jumbo Circus"; have held your breath while the pretty young thing in the glittery skirt did acrobatics, quite enjoyed the elephants hitting football, the motorcyclist vrooming in the "Maut - ka - Gola" and it was politically okay to laugh your guts out at dwarfs hitting each others bottoms!

9.. You have at least once heard "Hawa Mahal" and "Binaca Geetmala" on the radio.

10. If you had a TV, it was normal to expect the neighbourhood to gather around to watch the Chitrahaar or the Sunday movie. If you didn't have a TV, you just went to a house that did. It mattered little if you knew the owners or not.

11. Sometimes the owners of these TVs got very creative and got a bi or even a tri-coloured anti-glare screen which they attached with two side clips onto their Weston TVs. That confused the hell out of you!

12. Black & White TVs weren't so bad after all because cricket was played in whites.

13. You thought your Dad rocked because you got your own (the family's; not your own own!) colour TV when the Asian Games started. Everyone else got the same idea as well and ever since, no one came over to your house and you didn't go to anyone else's to watch TV.

14. You dreaded the death of any political leader because of the mourning they would announce on the TV. After all how much " Shashtriya Sangeet " can a kid take?

15. You knew that " Indira Gandhi " was somebody really powerful and terribly important. And that's all you needed to know.

16. The only "Gadgets" in the house were the TV, the Fridge and possibly a mixer.

17. Movies meant Rajesh Khanna or Amitabh Bachchan. Before the start of the movie you always had to watch the obligatory "Newsreel".

18. You thought you were so rocking because you knew almost all the songs of Abba and Boney M.

19. Your hormones went crazy when you heard " Aap Jaisa Koi Meri Jindagi Mein Aaye " by Nazia Hassan .

20. Photograph taking was a big thing. You were lucky if your family owned a camera. A reel of 36 exposures was valuable hence it justified the half hour preparation & "setting" & the "posing" for each picture. Therefore, you. have at least one family picture where everyone is holding their breath and standing in attention!

🍻Cheers to gud old friends & times.💐

P.S: Please share with your children for they won't understand the half of it!! Even if its a repeat, worth reading again.
Dr A Jagan Mohan Reddy

[MTC Global] Foods that destroy metabolism

Dear friends,

Good morning.

==========================

5 Foods That Destroy Your Metabolism

6

by Bembu

Keeping your metabolism in high gear works wonders on the way you feel and keeps you fit and trim. Avoiding foods that slow down your metabolism is just as important as eating foods that rev it up. These foods are classic culprits of a slower-than-desired metabolism.

1. Donuts

Homer Simpson is a perfect example of someone whose metabolism has gone south, and his eating habits are a tipoff as to what causes it. His favorite sweet treat is a donut, and donuts have the one-two punch of being made from flour and containing copious amounts of sugar.

As if this weren't enough to send your metabolism packing, they are often deep-fried in oil that is not a natural oil, which pretty much makes your metabolism wonder what you're doing to it.
A Better Choice: Baked donuts may be an option, especially if they're made with a healthier flour choice like almond flour or coconut flour, which provide extra fiber and will help speed up your metabolism rather than slow it down.

2. Pasta

You know that sleepy post-pasta food coma you find yourself in after a big bowl of it? That's the feeling of your metabolism taking a hit. Pasta not only packs on the pounds but can really do a number on your metabolism.

Pasta is made from flour, and most times the flour it's made from is not helping you out nutritionally. Pasta can cause a spike in your blood sugar, and makes you lethargic after a meal, making you less likely to exercise which will have a negative effect on your metabolism.
A Better Choice: Instead of conventional pasta, switch to whole wheat pasta, or better yet swap it out for a vegetable-turned-pasta. Spaghetti squash is a popular choice, or you can use a spiralizer to turn zucchini into a pasta-like dish.

3. Colas

The caffeine in colas and other carbonated beverages might give you a surge of alertness, but in the long run it stands a big chance of shooting down your metabolism.

The High Fructose Corn Syrup is going to make it so you have an easier time of gaining weight, and a tougher time of losing it. It's also wildly addictive, and makes it harder to kick these drinks to the curb. It's found in nearly every soft drink on the market, and it's just one of the many sugars these drinks contain that will wreak havoc on your metabolism.
A Better Choice: There's really no substitute for clean, pure water when it comes to your metabolism. It will help flush out excess sodium, and hydrates your internal organs so they function better.

4. Whole Milk

Drink a glass of whole milk thinking that you've just "done the body good" and you may have taken a step at slowing your metabolism down.

Remember that milk is fortified with vitamins because the processing that it goes through kills off important nutrients. That means you're not really getting naturally occurring vitamins and minerals, but rather industrial grade synthetic vitamins and minerals manufactured by the food industry. Aside from it being the milk of another species, there's really nothing natural for the human body in a glass of conventionally manufactured and fortified milk.
A Better Choice: If you must drink milk, drink it skim so that you can get the benefit of the protein, calcium, and Vitamin D. Also drink organic dairy products so you miss out on the antibiotics and hormones in conventional dairy.

5. Fast Food

It's no secret that fast food has a negative impact on your health, and one of the reasons is because it can slow down your metabolism. There's MSG in almost all fast food, which makes the food taste really good, and gets you to want more and more of it.

French fries are one choice that will take a toll on your metabolism, both because its made from conventional GMO potatoes, and because they're deep fried in GMO-laden oils. The beef used at every fast food restaurant is mass produced, and there may be bits of dozens of cows in one burger. This increases the chances of getting sick from it, and you're basically guaranteed to ingest antibiotics and growth hormones given to the cows to keep them from catching colds and to grow faster.
A Better Choice: The opposite of fast food isn't slow food, it's fresh vegetables and fruits and lean meat and protein sources. Don't think they taste as good as fast food? Try eating them for a month straight without eating any fast food. You'll find you crave these healthy foods and have no more desire for the fast stuff.

Jesusman
"He brought reforms in the University of Yaoundé that reduced corruption. H.E. Peter Agbor Tabi served Biya faithfully and 'he took the bold steps of instituting reforms' that saved Cameroon from early bankruptcy - I don't like Biya"
Jesusman, why don't you like Biya? Do Biya's ministers do things right while Biya's does them all wrongly? Or why don't you like him? Don't they work according to his policy guidelines? How can you explain this contradiction of liking Agbor Tabi and hating Mr. Biya? ('he took the bold steps of instituting reforms') If you are really sure the late professor personally conceived and then implemented these reforms, kindly trace and publish one of his speeches in which he used the first person singular i.e saying "I have decided" to institute such and such reforms in the entire university system in Cameroon. Why to you attribute things to the wrong people? Is this tribalism or what?
Just think about this. If  you are happy that Egbe Tabi served Manyu well by recruiting mostly Manyu people into the ministry of the PTT even if they did not merit it, and Agbor Tabi has done same by making it possible for Manyu people to be favoured and be admitted into IRIC, again if they did not merit it, just for once use the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ and think about other unfortunate Cameroonians who have never had the luck that one of theirs is appointed ministers in ministries where such favours can be done. So what do you expect to happen to these unfortunate Cameroonians? Again imagine that you were from such a place in Cameroon. What would have been your fate? You would rush to say these favoured Manyu children merited to get what they got. If they merited it, why would they need favours from anybody? Are you not the same person who blames Northwesterners for "supporting" Foncha, Muna, Jua, etc?Why do you think you are correct while the Northwesterner is wrong? How can we possibly carry on any debate with such a mindset as yours? You support when the tide favours you but would not hesitate to blame another person who does same?
If you claim that the late professor did the right thing you must equally give thanks to Mr Biya for being the origin of this policy. Instead you say you hate him. If you want to object, proof me wrong when I say  it was just one of Biya's policies - (even if forced on him by the World Bank) because I am ready for you.
Finally even if it was Agbor Tabi, it was a very poorly conceived policy because after studying in the US and benefited from the US university tuition system he would have done same in Cameroon and even if the fee was tripled but spread accross course lines like it is done in the US, sponsors,  among every other expenditure incurred in paying for university education, would have found it  a lot easier to afford  tuition and all other fees and students would have also found it more flexible to make choices in school regarding the coursed offered. That is why most of us even without  the benefit of sponsorship in the US could combine work and school and still succeed. This blanket fee is insignificant and cannot do much to raise university and state revenue as intended. Proffesor Agbor Tabi as you claim he instituted it, in his right mind would be ashamed to be associated with such a silly policy

Massa Jesusman: Quite an interesting write-up here to honor your late friend the Professor. The only problem? A lot of exaggeration and twisted truths if not outright lies in your narrative and if you want, I shall point them out line by line. That not withstanding, your gift as a writer cannot be denied. Take care my friend.,,,Tah Mfar Mishe Fon

Snippets from Jesusman's "Adieu Prof Peter Agbor Tabi: The man of progress!"

You may not have known what Professor Peter Agbor Tabi did for Cameroon. He brought reforms in the University of Yaoundé that reduced corruption. H.E. Peter Agbor Tabi served Biya faithfully and he took the bold steps of instituting reforms that saved Cameroon from early bankruptcy. I don't like Biya, but I will praise any man who serves his master faithfully as he (Tabi) did...dixit PhD Dokta Jesusman Saint Arrey Hamilton Ayuk, Teacher, Prophet, Pastor, Fortune Teller, Ngambey man, Counselor, Author, Publisher, Blogger, Editor, Translator, Diplomat, Political (CPDM) Activist, Internet Pundit, the sole Prince of Ntenako and last but not the least, Eulogy Concoctor or Contractor (which ever one).

He continues with the Eulogy to his Manyu brother here below:

"The Manyu people, especially have a lot to be thankful about Prof Peter Agbor Tabi. Those who were admitted into ENS, CUSS, ENAM and IRIC have jobs. When HON E.T Egbe (another Manyu man) came with Postal appointments, Manyu people complained that "not every Manyu man wants to be a Postmaster." When H.E Prof Agbor Tabi came, Manyu people said "Na all ma go be teacher?" That year they were two Manyu sons in IRIC who were recruited in Diplomacy when only 7 students were recruited for the entire Cameroon  Diplomacy department.
He (Prof. Agbor Tabi) kept almost every promise he made to me.  I knew him as a soft-spoken, friendly, funny and faithful person. *:)) laughingI lost contact with him when I left the CPDM, and moved to the United States*~^o^~ cheer.

Adieu Prof Peter Agbor Tabi: The man of progress!

When the news broke out that Prof Peter Agbor Tabi had passed away, it did not take me as a surprise. He was a mortal who knew his mortality. He was man who care for his people, albeit his vaulting ambition was discordant with those who had signed a pact with backwardness. He was never in a hurry with his words, but they carried powers beyond the immediate vicinity they were uttered. Before he was appointed rector, I had to pay money to hold my campaigns in the University of Yaoundé. When he was appointed, all of that vanished. He served as a covering to the weak and gave opportunities to the tailess cows. Twice my group and I were detained while praying in the field, and twice he ordered our release. "This world is phony: if my enemies heard that I have killed a lion even with my bare hands, they will gossip that I killed a mere squirrel, but when they hear that their friend has used 4 days to catch a tilapia, they broadcast to the world that he caught a shark." (Hamilton Ayuk).

"Only a man cursed to die a violent death challenges a male buffalo to a fight." (Hamilton Ayuk)

"Idle people write, idler people read, and idlest people read and whine that idle people are taking their time." (Hamilton Ayuk)

"When a people have suffered for too long, they will drink fairytales on fairylands with insatiable gullibility." (Hamilton Ayuk)

"He who speaks out before the system kicks him out has a clean conscience, but he who speaks out only after the system has kicked him out, has  vengeance for conscience." Hamilton Ayuk.
